3D Conservation

Sculpture Conservation for Complex and Significant Works

About

3D Conservation is a specialist practice focused on modern and contemporary sculpture, particularly works presenting unusual material, structural, or environmental challenges.

Led by Lowri Morris (MA Conservation, RCA/V&A), we provide rigorous, discreet, museum-standard conservation for institutions, private collections, and artist estates.

Previous institutional clients include Tate, The Hepworth Wakefield, Henry Moore Institute, Yorkshire Sculpture Park, and the Rijksmuseum Amsterdam.

What We Do

Conservation Treatment

Assessment and treatment of modern and contemporary sculpture in all materials, with particular expertise in mixed media, outdoor works, and complex structural issues.

Condition Surveys & Collection Care

Detailed condition reporting, environmental assessment, preventive conservation strategies, and long-term care planning for collections.

Advisory & Ethical Consultation

Independent advice on conservation decision-making, artist intent, treatment options, and material longevity — particularly for unusual or challenging works.

Installation & Technical Liaison

Collaboration with fabricators, art handlers, insurers, and estate managers to ensure safe movement, installation, and documentation.

Experience & Approach

3D Conservation combines over twenty-five years of institutional and independent practice.

Lowri Morris trained at the Royal College of Art / Victoria & Albert Museum joint MA programme and has worked extensively with national collections, sculpture parks, and artist estates.

Our work is guided by:

  • – Museum-standard documentation
  • – Ethical and reversible treatment principles
  • – Clear communication with collectors and stakeholders
  • – Careful judgement in complex cases
